Though my day was rather annoying in bits, I am planning a new project π which always makes me feel better π I want to create a proper crafting-mostly sewing space in my bedroom so that I can sew in peace and still have a presentable room instead of it being a mountain of fabric as it is currently.
Some facts about my room:
- It has 3 doors and two windows overlooking a balcony
- It was my mother’s room and my brother’s room when they were children
- It has lovely green, white and black mosaic flooring(I love my house for this reason- it’s old fashioned and roomy)
- My windows have a lovely stylized grill design created by my own grandfather (it’s a version of his initials!)
- My room has pale green walls and I never will change the color cos I love it this way…It’s my refuge and den π and I love it being green
I want my room to be:
- Still my bedroom but with crafty space for all my midnight crafting sprees
- Tech Savvy-My computer table is also in my room and I need place for DVDs and my many gadgets-I’ve covered the table with a cute vinyl shower curtain with tiny yellow and white checks! So easy to clean and maintain
- Inspiring- I want to have signboards and inspiring pictures to help me create-perhaps even an inspiration board kind of thing.
- Feminine- I have gone from having all colors in my room to having monochromatic schemes now, I’m drawn to a pale green, pink and butter yellow or aqua scheme.
- Organized-I am SO tired of having to cut fabric on the floor cos my table is cluttered and having to step over/roll over fabric, needles and scissors at every step I take in my room.I gotta figure out how to organize my stash- and it ain’t that big if I may say so myself!
- Sewing area for 2 sewing machines- I am planning to buy an automatic sewing machine-most probably an USHA Janome- oh why don’t we have Bernina’s in Chennai π¦ I am going to keep my current treadle poweredΒ Singer Fashion Maker for sentimental and practical reasons
- Paper Craft area- I love to make origami boxes, the occasional card and fancy rubber stamped paper. While I may want to focus on sewing, I know that I can get bitten by the paper craft bee at any time-hence I want a little table space free for my paper stash-I am planning to use my dressing table for that π
So, you’ve read about my plans- now it’s time for you to post some pictures of your craft/sewing spaces. You can link up to your photos too. I need some inspiration people!!
